With a total of 61 exhibitors from 9 countries and more than 3,000 trade visitors expected, the International Health Care Trade Fair Salon de la Santé 2010 is on a very good way to become an important showcase of technological innovations, developments and trends right from its very start.

Organised by Forum 7 of Casablanca, Morocco and fairtrade of Germany and held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Morocco, Salon de la Santé 2010 is held in Casablanca on 6 to 9 April 2010. A focused meeting point, where decision makers meet with top international suppliers to network and do business.

As exports of medical technology to Morocco are on a constant upswing, more and more leading companies have signed up for this important event and will display latest technologies. Visiting Salon de la Santé 2010 represents an excellent opportunity for decision-makers from all over Morocco, to get in contact with cutting-edge solutions first, and to meet new suppliers.

Another important news: in cooperation with the AHK network of German chambers of commerce in Casablanca, Algiers and Tunis, the organisers have built-up an excellent database in order to get in direct personal touch with the decision-makers in the Maghreb.

Medtec exports of more than Euro 320 million to Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia in 2008

The North African countries are reforming and modernising their health care sectors, offering excellent opportunities for suppliers of medical equipment. In Morocco for instance, expenses of the health sector amount to US$ 2.5 billion annually. According to a survey compiled for fairtrade and Salon de la Santé 2010 by AHK - The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco, Moroccan imports of medical technology for the very first time topped the EUR 70 million mark in 2008, after EUR 63.8 million in 2007.

Main suppliers with 18% market share are major players from Germany and the USA, followed by France with 17%, China (9%), Japan (7%) and Italy (5%). In Algeria, medtec imports increased from Euro 110.6 million in 2007 to Euro 161.2 million in 2008, in Tunisia from Euro 78.7 to Euro 93.4 million, summing up to more than Euro 320 million to Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia in 2008. As the Maghreb countries completely rely on imports, estimations foresee an annual growth of medtec imports by more than 10%.
